Connecting Meta is the first step to getting your Meta campaign and creative data into Superads. Connecting it takes seconds. This article walks through the process and the most common fixes.
What you need before connecting
Before you start, make sure you have:
A personal Facebook account that has access to the ad account(s) you want to connect
At least Advertiser or Admin role on the ad account in Meta Business Manager (Analyst access is not enough)
⚠️ Important: Superads connects to Meta via your personal Facebook profile. Your profile must have the correct role on the ad account in Business Manager. If someone else set up the account and added you later, confirm your role in Meta Business Settings > Ad Accounts > [account name] > People. |
How to connect your Meta ad account
1 | Go to Settings > Data Sources (or click on the CTA on the homepage) You'll find this in the left navigation menu of your Superads workspace. |
2 | Click 'Add account' under the Meta section |
3 | Log in with Facebook when prompted A Meta authorization popup will appear. Log in with the Facebook account that has access to the ad accounts you want to connect. |
4 | Select the ad accounts to connect You'll see a list of all ad accounts your Facebook profile has access to. Select the ones you want to add to Superads. You can connect multiple ones at the same time. |
5 | Click Connect If the button isn't visible, try scrolling down in the modal or zooming out your browser (Cmd/Ctrl + minus). |
6 | Wait for the initial sync Your data will start appearing within about 30 minutes. The full history can take up to 24 hours depending on account size. |
💡 Tip: Connect all the ad accounts you need at once in step 4. You can always add more later by repeating this process, but selecting multiple accounts in one session is faster. |
Connecting multiple Meta ad accounts
If you manage multiple Meta ad accounts (for example, as an agency), you can connect all of them in one session by selecting each one in step 4 of the connection flow. In this case, they will all sync under the same workspace.
If your clients' ad accounts are under different Business Managers that your Facebook profile doesn't have access to, you will need to ask each client to grant your Facebook profile access to their ad account in their Business Manager before connecting.
ℹ️ Note: All connected ad accounts count toward your total monthly spend for billing purposes. See the Superads pricing article for details on how tiers work. |
What permissions does Superads request?
When you authorize Superads in the Meta popup, you are granting read-only access to your ad data. All permissions requested are used solely for reading campaign and performance data. Superads never creates, edits or pauses any of your ads.
ℹ️ Note: You can revoke Superads access at any time in your Facebook account under Settings > Business Integrations. |
Common errors and how to fix them
Symptom | What to do |
Error message when connecting | Check that your Facebook profile has at least Advertiser or Admin access on the ad account in Meta Business Settings. Analyst access is not sufficient. Once corrected, try connecting again. |
Ad account doesn't appear in the list | This usually means the ad account is under a different Facebook profile, or your profile doesn't have access yet. Ask your Meta admin to add your Facebook profile to the ad account in Business Manager, then retry. |
"Already connected" but no data appears | The connection may not have been completed. Try disconnecting and reconnecting. During the reconnection flow, make sure to scroll down in the modal to find and click the Connect button. It may be hidden on smaller screens. |
Only some ad accounts synced | You may not have selected all accounts during setup, or your profile's access was limited on some accounts. Go to Settings > Data Sources and add the missing accounts by clicking 'Add data source' again. |
Connection worked but sync is stuck | Try a manual resync: Settings > Data Sources > three-dot menu next to the account > Resync. If the error persists after 24 hours, contact support with your workspace name |
Reconnecting after a broken or expired connection
Meta connections can break in a few situations. The most common ones are:
You changed your Facebook password. Changing your password invalidates all connected apps, including Superads. All Meta ad accounts in your workspace will stop syncing.
Your Facebook session expired. Meta access tokens expire periodically. Superads will show an error on the affected account in Settings > Data Sources.
How to reconnect
1 | Go to Settings > Data Sources |
2 | Find the account showing an error or warning |
3 | Click the reconnect button next to it This will open the Meta authorization flow again. |
4 | Log in with Facebook and reauthorize Make sure to log in with the same Facebook profile that originally set up the connection. |
